Web and defamation - a warning for all.
The rules online are simple - be very carefull what you post.
An article in the Herald Sun 15Feb08 talks of a Victorian man appologising publicly to avoid the threat of a defamation suit against him for something posted in what he thought was a private message.
The lesson here is not to forget just how public the web is. If you wouldn't want something printed in a national newspaper, dont post it online - anywhere!
Content on the internet is more seachable and accessable than it has ever been, and the potential threat of defamation for seemingly inconspicuous remarks is ever increasing.
